This year’s Bruichladdich expression uses a unique combination of different casks. They each have a distinctive character and are varied in terms of flavour – but work exceptionally well together when combined.
“I used an equal mix of Sauternes casks and dessert wine casks from Austria, adding sweetness and ripe orchard fruits which amplify our classic Bruichladdich house style. I’ve always had my eye on the ex-brandy casks which we’ve used, which add another layer of depth and flavour as these previously held Predro Ximenez Sherry. These casks bring subtle hints of nutmeg and ginger, as well as dried apricot and stoned fruits.
“This expression is different to anything else we’ve ever released, but I hope people enjoy it as much as I do.”
