We distilled this whisky’s smooth spirit in Scotland year Dr Bill Lumsden, our Director of Whisky Creation, joined Glenmorangie. Our whisky had sparked his love for single malt long before. And he was confident that our Distillery would embrace his enthusiasm for discovering new tastes, granting him the freedom to experiment. Decades on, his devotion to Glenmorangie as strong as ever, Dr Bill was inspired to recall the entrepreneurial zeal of his early days, in a whisky which had shared his journey through the years.

With a parcel matured in bourbon casks since 1995, he would evoke our signature smooth, citrus style. To contrast, he would choose another classic parcel, long finished in oloroso sherry casks, for spice and honeyed sweetness. Then he would unite those whiskies with a third, experimental parcel finished for more than a decade in prestigious Margaux red wine casks. Used just once before at Glenmorangie, these casks would bring berried, chocolate notes to the assemblage, embodying our commitment to innovation.

Shared with the world 23 years after it was distilled by Dr Bill, Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1995 magnificently reflects his visionary expertise. The whisky displays all the maturity and structure that age offers, complemented by an elegance only skill can bring. Wonderfully integrated, its vivacious assemblage is a celebration of the zesty complexity for which our spirit has always been adored.
